Recycled Polyvinyl Butyral (RPVB)
Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) is commonly used in glass lamination processes for automotive windshields and high rise buildings. With 27 million vehicles recylced and scrapped each year, Epo wanted to do its part in diverting waste from the landfill. As a result, Epo started R&D recylcled PVB coatings in 2015.
Starting with post-consumer recycled PVB (PVB extracted from windshield recycling process), Epo quickly reailzed that impurities present in extraction process were unable to be filtered out during the coating (which affected quality). As a result, Epo looked to pre-consumer alternatives and started collecting PVB scrap from windshield factories in Taiwan. With Epo's proprietary blend of RPVB, Epo created a recylced coating that was consistent in quality. Softness
