What is Recycled PVB?

Recycled Polyvinyl Butyral (Recycled PVB) is a material derived from the recycling of used PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral) film, which is primarily found in laminated safety glass, such as automotive windshields and architectural glass.
PVB IS COMMONLY
used in glass lamination processes for automotive windshields and high-rise buildings. With 27 million vehicles recycled and scrapped each year, EPO wanted to do its part in diverting waste from the landfill. As a result, EPO started R&D recycled PVB coatings in 2015. Starting with post-consumer recycled PVB, EPO quickly realized that impurities present in the extraction process could not be filtered out during the coating (which affected quality). EPO looked to pre-consumer alternatives and started collecting PVB scrap from windshield factories in Taiwan. EPO's proprietary blend of RPVB created a recycled and eco-friendly coating that was consistent in quality.

Characteristics of Recycled PVB

01
Durability
Products made with recycled PVB are tough and resilient, so they last a long time.
02
Flexibility
The material provides an outstanding level of adaptability, making it well-suited for textiles that demand both durability and flexibility.
03
Excellent Adhesion
It provides excellent adhesion to fabrics, enhancing the durability and performance of the coated textiles.
04
Excellent Weather Resistance
Recycled PVB coatings are non-hydrolyzing and suitable for outdoor products. They also have anti-yellowing properties, excellent water and stain resistance, and strong UV protection.
05
Suitable for High-Frequency Welding
High-frequency welding uses a high-frequency electromagnetic field to heat and fuse materials together without applying external heat. It can create a strong bond between the two parts.

Advantages of Choosing Recycled PVB for Textile Coating

  • Visual Appeal
Recycled PVB coatings can improve the visual appearance of fabrics, providing a contemporary and stylish aesthetic.
  • Tactile Benefits
The coated fabric has a pleasant feel, enhancing the user experience.
  • Safety & Non-toxic
Recycled PVB coatings are non-toxic and safe for various applications, including those that come into direct contact with skin.
  • Excellent Abrasion and Scratch Resistance
The material is highly resistant to wear and tear, making it ideal for demanding applications.
